Hiring Preference:

At-Will Employment: Employment with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians is at-will, allowing termination with or without cause or notice, at any time, by either the employee or the Tribe.
Drug Testing: The Kalispel Tribe of Indians maintains a drug-free workplace. All applicants will undergo drug testing upon hire and may be subject to random testing during employment.
Background Investigation: All candidates and employees may be required to undergo a background check.
Position SummaryThis role involves investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, ensuring the safety and welfare of children and families within the jurisdiction of the Kalispel Tribe. The position requires a thorough understanding of the Kalispel Tribal Law and Order Code, along with current child welfare laws and mandatory reporting policies. Responsibilities include conducting interviews, assessing situations involving children and witnesses, and providing expert testimony in court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate risks and safety for children while delivering family-centered services. Conduct thorough investigations and interviews with children, maintaining accurate client data through regular home or school visits.
- Respond promptly to referrals, investigate cases, and determine appropriate placement options, collaborating closely with the Tribal Care Licensor during the foster care placement process.
- Prepare for and participate in court proceedings as the ICW Social Worker, providing necessary legal documentation such as court reports and safety plans.
- Engage professionally with state workers, Prosecuting Attorneys, and other Tribal staff, advocating for clients effectively.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Prioritize tasks effectively, managing caseloads and ensuring timely updates to client files and documentation.
- Utilize a culturally sensitive and strength-based approach in all interactions with clients.
- Comply with all relevant tribal, federal, and state privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Significant amounts of standing or walking may be required.
