Position SummaryThis role is pivotal in investigating allegations of child maltreatment and ensuring the safety and welfare of children and families within the jurisdiction of the Kalispel Tribe. The incumbent will apply the Kalispel Tribal Law and Order Code alongside relevant child welfare legislation and policies regarding abuse, neglect, and mandatory reporting. Responsibilities include conducting interviews, assessing situations involving children and witnesses, and providing expert testimony in court proceedings. The position demands the ability to navigate challenging circumstances while making critical decisions that impact the safety of Native children and families, as well as engaging with community partners and the judicial system.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate risks and ensure the safety of children while delivering family-centered services. Proficiently conduct investigations and interviews with children. Maintain accurate client records through regular home or school visits.
- Respond promptly to referrals, conduct investigations, and explore placement options when necessary. Collaborate closely with the Tribal Care Licensor during the placement process.
- Prepare for and participate in court hearings as the ICW Social Worker or qualified expert witness. Ensure timely and comprehensive legal documentation for court appearances, including reports, case plans, and safety plans.
- Engage professionally with state representatives, legal counsel, and other Tribal personnel, advocating for clients' needs.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and ethical conduct at all times.
- Prioritize tasks effectively, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to manage time and caseload efficiently. Maintain organized client files with up-to-date progress notes and relevant documentation.
- Utilize a culturally sensitive and strengths-based approach when working with clients.
- Comply with all applicable tribal, federal, and state privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Frequent standing or walking is required.
