Position Overview: As the Regional Carbon Project Lead, you will be at the forefront of implementing our regional carbon asset strategy. This includes overseeing Offsets, Insets, Sustainability Products, and Co-benefit certifications that align with our regional Ecosystem Business objectives, aimed at developing high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable carbon asset projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the establishment of Bayer as a premier supplier of high-quality carbon assets and co-benefits that fulfill market demands and support the transition to net zero.
  • Manage the development of regional carbon asset projects, ensuring success in quality, timelines, and scale, in alignment with our ecosystem business strategies.
  • Govern the selection and approval of innovative tools to efficiently scale carbon assets.
  • Position Bayer as a thought leader in the net zero journey through strategic collaborations with global experts, organizations, and working groups.
  • Optimize resource utilization through meticulous planning and transparent allocation to projects.
  • Establish a center of excellence in Ecosystem Markets, facilitating training and engagement for teams across regions and countries.

Who You Are: We are looking for a candidate who meets the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of experience in Environmental Science, Finance, or Policy, demonstrating a successful track record in Project Leadership and Management roles.
  • Proven experience in developing methodologies for soil carbon dioxide removal for science-based carbon credit issuance.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze outputs from Carbon Quantification Tools, refining methodologies, and providing science-based business insights to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to influence key stakeholders, set clear objectives, and track execution.
  • Ability to lead change in ambiguous situations and foster a culture of innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical expertise in carbon credits, standards, and the project development lifecycle, particularly in nature-based solutions.
  • Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional environments with strong prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or SQL for analyzing large datasets.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and the ability to interpret data science modeling results in relation to business outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen.
