Position Overview: As the Regional Carbon Project Lead, you will be responsible for executing the regional carbon asset strategy, which encompasses Offsets, Insets, Sustainability Products, and Co-benefit certifications that align with the regional Ecosystem Business. Your role will be pivotal in driving the development of high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable carbon asset projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the regional carbon asset strategy to establish Bayer as a premier supplier of high-quality carbon assets and co-benefits that fulfill buyer requirements and support the journey to net zero.
  • Oversee the development of regional carbon asset projects, ensuring success in quality, timeliness, and scale in accordance with regional ecosystem business strategies.
  • Govern the selection and approval of innovations, adhering to standards that facilitate the cost-effective scaling of carbon assets.
  • Position Bayer as a thought leader in the net zero journey through strategic engagement with global experts, organizations, and working groups.
  • Optimize resource utilization through meticulous planning and transparent allocation to projects.
  • Establish a center of excellence in Ecosystem Markets, ensuring training and engagement of teams across regions and countries.

Qualifications:

Bayer is seeking a candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Required: A Master's degree with 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience in Environmental Science, Finance, or Policy, demonstrating a successful track record in Project Leadership and Management roles. Experience in cross-functional matrix environments is essential.
  • Proven expertise in developing soil carbon dioxide removal methodologies for science-based carbon credit issuance.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze outputs from Carbon Quantification Tools and present refined methodologies and science-based business insights to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to influence key stakeholders; adept at setting clear objectives and tracking execution; skilled in leading change and managing ambiguity; capable of fostering a culture of innovation.

Preferred:

  • Technical knowledge of carbon credits, standards, and the project development lifecycle, particularly in nature-based solutions for removals and avoidance.
  • Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional settings; strong prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or SQL programming languages to enhance the analysis of large data sets.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Ability to interpret data science modeling results and connect them to business outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen.
