Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Are you an enthusiastic and skilled IT leader with a passion for innovation? We are looking for a proactive Pharmacy Systems Technical Manager to lead the advancement of our pharmacy technology framework. In this pivotal role, you will guide a talented team with a focus on three primary objectives:

1. Implementing Advanced Solutions: Drive the deployment of new pharmacy systems to enhance workflows, ensure seamless integration with current infrastructure, and improve the overall efficiency of our pharmacy operations.

2. Optimizing Existing Systems: Oversee the transition of current pharmacy systems to newer versions, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services while maximizing the advantages of upgraded functionalities.

3. Providing Reliable Support: Cultivate a team environment that delivers outstanding ongoing support for our pharmacy system portfolio, maintaining uptime in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs), proactively identifying and resolving potential issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet their needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • System Implementation and Oversight:
    • Lead the rollout of new pharmacy systems to ensure alignment with business requirements and seamless integration with existing platforms.
    • Manage the upgrade and transition of current pharmacy systems, minimizing operational disruptions.
    • Collaborate with vendors to ensure successful system implementations and ongoing support.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Establish clear objectives, effective strategies, and measurable results.
    • Ensure efficient task completion by managing team performance and resources.
    • Develop a talent pipeline to address future business needs.
    • Plan, organize, and coordinate various projects and services.
    • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
    • Oversee daily operations of the Pharmacy Systems team, including staff and contractors.
    • Develop and implement policies for Pharmacy Systems support functions.
    • Assist in creating Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to define incident resolution expectations.
    • Manage administrative responsibilities related to team members.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and implement necessary corrective actions.
    • Recruit, hire, and train new team members.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Ensure system uptime according to SLAs for all critical pharmacy system features.
    • Implement industry best practices in application development and support.
    • Collaborate with software engineers to manage system architecture and establish programming standards.
    • Act as a technical advisor to management on pharmacy system-related issues.
    • Proactively identify and address potential issues to minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Address Quality Control Non-Conformance Reports (QNCRs) as part of the continuous improvement process.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work effectively with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver solutions.
    • Maintain vendor relationships, conducting regular reviews and audits.
    • Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Information Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a technical leadership role, preferably in healthcare or Healthcare IT.
  • Experience with pharmacy systems.
  • Proven track record in managing IT projects, particularly system implementations.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and incident management.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in commercial software development.
  • Agile methodology experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations.
  • Project management experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical and mental demands of this position include frequent reaching, grasping, standing, and sitting for extended periods. The work environment is typically moderately quiet with frequent interruptions.
