Head of Renewable Energy Origination

Cubico Sustainable Investments Limited is seeking a seasoned professional to become a vital part of the Origination and Execution team (O&E) in the United States.
The O&E division operates as a specialized function within Cubico, complementing other essential areas such as Development, Technical, Asset Management, Legal, and Finance.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in executing M&A transactions involving early and mid-stage greenfield renewable energy projects, along with expertise in securing project financing and tax equity within the US market.
This role entails a significant level of autonomy in managing origination and execution responsibilities.
Location: The successful candidate will be based in Austin, Texas (hybrid work model) and will report directly to the US Head of O&E.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the US Head of O&E and the US Country Head in identifying and executing investment opportunities, focusing initially on the acquisition of early and mid-stage greenfield renewable energy projects.
- Facilitate the raising of project finance and tax equity prior to construction commencement.
- Refinance existing debt facilities for operational projects to enhance equity cash flow.
- Oversee the equity investment and underwriting processes, including task management throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Conduct thorough reviews involving financial models, information memoranda, due diligence (covering legal, technical, environmental, financial, and tax aspects), internal approval processes, and drafting transaction documentation for specific investment opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with various internal teams (Development, Investment Analysis, Legal, Finance, Tax, Technical, Asset Management, etc.).
- Engage with external advisors throughout the Origination & Execution (O&E) process, including M&A, Financial, Legal, and Technical advisors.
People Management:
Provide training, support, and oversight to team members (analysts, associates) involved in executing and negotiating investment transactions, preparing internal presentations, analyzing optimal transaction structures, and reviewing due diligence results.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience in originating and executing renewable energy equity and debt transactions in the US.
- Proficient in structuring and transacting on early and mid-stage development assets through upfront or earnout structures.
- Knowledgeable in raising and structuring US tax equity investments.
- Deep understanding of various renewable energy technologies (wind, solar PV, battery storage) and the complete investment cycle.
- In-depth knowledge of the North American Electricity Market and the US development process.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of addressing contractual, commercial, and technical issues.
- Ability to adapt and reassess priorities in challenging situations and tight deadlines.
- Relevant academic and professional qualifications.
