About the Role

Ferrovial is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Manager to oversee all aspects of permitting processes required for the construction and operation of renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will report to the Asset Manager in Spain and the Head of Development in the US.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement permitting strategies for renewable energy projects, ensuring timely acquisition of all required permits.
  • Coordinate with project teams, environmental specialists, and legal counsel to ensure comprehensive compliance with environmental laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies to facilitate the permitting process.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, monitor their progress, and address any compliance issues.
  • Oversee project development in dynamic regulatory environments, minimizing permitting risk and liability.
  • Supervise the work of project environmental consultants as required.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate environmental impact and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and document quality to ensure timely completion.
  • Respond to internal and external environmental and permitting-related inquiries.
  • Support project financing, third-party due diligence, and Purchase Agreement bids.
  • Provide guidance on environmental and permitting status to project stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes affecting project permitting and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to permitting delays or denials and develop mitigation plans.
  • Offer expert advice to project teams on permitting and regulatory compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Law, or a related field. JD, MBA, or other post-graduate degrees are highly valued.
  • +5 years of experience in permitting and regulatory compliance, especially for renewable assets.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and guidelines in renewable energy.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing projects under permitting environments.
  • Experience working with government agencies at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Experience in monitoring compliance and maintaining thorough documentation throughout projects.
  • Ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.
