Department Overview: The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is in search of exceptional candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (or higher) in Family and Sports Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary physician for Temple University Athletics, including the responsibilities of NCAA Health Care Administrator.
  • Supervise the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and students within the Temple University framework.
  • Oversee and develop policies and procedures to promote organizational growth in alignment with local and national healthcare standards.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice within the Family Medicine Residency program to ensure patient care meets accessibility demands.
  • Collaborate in the advancement of the sports medicine program within the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
  • Act as the team physician and lead for athletic medicine for Division I athletics at Temple University.

Educational Role: The Department is home to an ACGME-accredited 6/6/6 Residency Program, playing a significant educational role within the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Faculty members engage in clinical practice on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and contribute to clinical and educational research, while also being committed to community outreach initiatives.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Possession of an M.D. or D.O. with active board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
  • Academic credentials suitable for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Current expertise in crisis management, emergency preparedness, and best practices in primary healthcare, college health, and sports medicine.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity among faculty, staff, students, and patients, with a proven ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship, ideally in leadership roles.
  • 5 years of supervisory or management experience demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and communication skills.
