Position Overview:
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (or higher) in Family and Sports Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Lead Team Physician for Temple University Athletics, including the role of NCAA Health Care Administrator.
- Supervise the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and students.
- Develop and oversee policies and procedures to promote organizational growth in alignment with local and national standards of care.
Clinical Engagement:
- Maintain an active clinical schedule within the Family Medicine Residency program to ensure patient care meets access demands.
- Collaborate in the enhancement of the sports medicine program within the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
- Function as the team physician and director of athletic medicine for Division I athletics.
Educational Commitment:
The Department of Family and Community Medicine is home to an ACGME-approved 6/6/6 Residency Program, contributing significantly to the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's curriculum. We also maintain a clinical practice on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and engage in clinical and educational research.
Community Outreach:
Our faculty members are dedicated to community outreach initiatives in the North Philadelphia area, aiming to educate medical students, residents, and physicians to thrive in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape. This role necessitates an understanding of psychosocial factors influencing health, sensitivity to patient and community needs, and awareness of healthcare delivery economics.
Candidate Qualifications:
- An M.D. or D.O. with active board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
- Academic credentials suitable for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
- Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship, preferably in leadership roles.
- Proven supervisory, management, or leadership experience with demonstrated emotional intelligence and strong communication skills.
