Position Overview:
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is actively seeking qualified individuals for the position of Assistant Professor (or higher rank) in Family and Sports Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Lead Team Physician for Temple University Athletics, fulfilling the role of NCAA Health Care Administrator.
- Supervise the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and students within the Temple University framework.
- Oversee and develop policies and procedures that promote organizational growth, adhering to local and national care standards.
- Maintain an active clinical schedule within the Family Medicine Residency program to ensure patient care aligns with access demands.
- Collaborate in the advancement of the sports medicine program within the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
- Act as the team physician and director of athletic medicine for Division I athletics at Temple University.
Departmental Insight:
The Department of Family and Community Medicine features an ACGME-accredited 6/6/6 Residency Program, playing a significant educational role within the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Our faculty is dedicated to community outreach initiatives in the North Philadelphia area and participates in clinical and educational research.
Candidate Qualifications:
- An M.D. or D.O. with active board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
- Academic credentials suitable for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
- Possession of or eligibility for an unrestricted medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Current knowledge and experience in crisis management, emergency preparedness, national issues, industry trends, and best practice standards in primary healthcare, wellness, college health, sports medicine, and NCAA athletics.
- Commitment to promoting diversity among faculty, staff, students, and patients, with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship, with roles such as Fellowship Director, Program Director, or Assistant Program Director.
- 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience showcasing excellence in emotional intelligence and communication skills.
