The Penn Medicine Orthopedic Surgery team is seeking an ambulatory nurse to enhance their Sports Medicine division. The nurse will play a key role in coordinating care for patients in sports medicine. The position will involve responsibilities at multiple locations.


The Ambulatory Nurse II is a registered nurse who functions as a full partner within the healthcare team and consistently demonstrates safe practice in accordance with the organizational professional practice model.


The Ambulatory Nurse II possesses the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet the standards for competent professional nursing practice as outlined in the Ambulatory Nurse II position description addendum.

The Ambulatory Nurse II exhibits organizational behavioral competencies that reflect our mission and are integrated into the professional practice competency domains.


The Ambulatory Nurse II independently delivers patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients.

Assigned patients may range from infants to the elderly.

The Ambulatory Nurse II demonstrates competencies in Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family-Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.

The nurse evaluates and integrates the best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient and family preferences to deliver optimal healthcare and enhance system effectiveness.

The nurse minimizes risks to patients, families, providers, and self through effective systems and individual performance.

The nurse shows commitment to the nursing profession through ongoing education, adherence to the ANA's Code of Ethics for Nurses, involvement in professional organizations, and community outreach initiatives.


Person and Family-Centered Care:

The nurse acknowledges the patient (or the patient's designee) as the primary source of control and a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care, respecting the patient's preferences, values, and needs.


Leadership:
The nurse collaborates effectively and applies innovative, systems thinking to engage in systematic, evidence-based problem-solving and decision-making to promote effective changes within a complex care delivery system aligned with the vision of Penn Medicine.

Informatics/Technology:

The nurse utilizes appropriate information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, reduce errors, and support decision-making across the continuum of care.


Teamwork:

The nurse actively participates in cooperation, coordination, and collaboration to ensure safe, quality outcomes for patients within inter and intra-professional teams, including virtual teams.


Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): The nurse employs data and QI methods to identify potential and actual problems and opportunities to provide care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.


Credentials:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

Registered Nurse - PA (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor's degree Required - BSN from an accredited nursing school and 15+ months of relevant professional nursing experience.

Diploma or ASN from an accredited nursing school with more than 15 months of relevant professional nursing experience.
