Position Overview:
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (or higher) in Family and Sports Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Lead Team Physician for Temple University Athletics, you will also fulfill the role of NCAA Health Care Administrator. You will supervise the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and students, ensuring the highest standards of care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and developing policies and procedures to enhance organizational growth in line with local and national healthcare standards.
- Maintaining an active clinical schedule within the Family Medicine Residency program to meet patient care demands.
- Collaborating in the advancement of the sports medicine program within the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
- Functioning as the team physician and director of athletic medicine for Division I athletics.
Educational Role:
The Department has an ACGME-approved 6/6/6 Residency Program that plays a significant educational role in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, engaging in all four years of the curriculum.
We also operate a clinical practice on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and are involved in clinical and educational research. Our faculty members are dedicated to community outreach initiatives within the North Philadelphia area, aiming to educate medical students, residents, and physicians to thrive in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape.
Candidate Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an M.D. or D.O. with active board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. You should have the academic credentials suitable for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and be eligible for an unrestricted medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Current knowledge and experience in crisis management, emergency preparedness, national healthcare issues, industry trends, best practice standards in primary healthcare, health and wellness, college health, sports medicine, and health insurance related to NCAA athletics are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of experience in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship as Fellowship Director, Program Director, or Assistant Program Director is preferred. Additionally, five years of supervisory, management, or leadership experience with proven excellence in emotional intelligence and communication skills are highly regarded.
