The University of Oklahoma's Archaeology Department is in search of a committed Collections Assistant to enhance our team. This position involves the meticulous inventory, cataloging, digitization, and management of archaeological collections, ensuring compliance with NAGPRA regulations. You will play a vital role in supporting the Archaeology Collections Manager/NAGPRA Coordinator and the Curator of Archaeology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inventory and reorganizing of archaeological collections
  • Manage sensitive NAGPRA collections and engage in consultations
  • Develop catalog records in a database for collections and related documentation
  • Assist in project management and the preservation of collections
  • Interact with visitors, address requests, and lead tours
  • Perform various tasks to support the team effectively

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology or a related discipline
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office and database management systems
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with museum practices and standards
