Job Summary:

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Interlibrary Loan Borrowing Assistant to join our team in the Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery Unit of the Storage & Delivery department of University Libraries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing Requests: The successful candidate will be responsible for processing interlibrary loan borrowing requests, including verifying borrower information, checking availability, and coordinating with lending libraries.
  • Record Keeping: The Interlibrary Loan Borrowing Assistant will maintain accurate and confidential records and reports related to Interlibrary Loan services, ensuring compliance with library policies and procedures.
  • Customer Service: The candidate will provide excellent customer service to library users, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaboration: The Interlibrary Loan Borrowing Assistant will work collaboratively with other library departments, branch libraries, special collections, and borrowing institutions worldwide to ensure seamless interlibrary loan services.
  • Supervision: The successful candidate will oversee the work of student employees, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in interlibrary loan, library services, or a related field.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in library software and systems.
