Job Overview

Position Summary

The Nutrition Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a nutritionally balanced and cost-effective food services program that addresses the needs of students while adhering to all relevant local nutrition regulations. This position utilizes specialized training and government-mandated nutritional standards to develop and implement healthy menu plans. Collaboration with Food & Beverage Development and management teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities


1. Ensure compliance with United States Food and Drug Administration menu labeling laws related to recipe and menu board signage in various dining locations.

2. Collaborate with the culinary team to support menu planning and development for school district sites, including elementary, middle, and high schools, with a focus on ingredient and allergen transparency.

3. Lead the operations team in understanding and addressing special dietary needs, including food allergies, intolerances, and lifestyle diets influenced by personal or religious preferences.

4. Promote health and wellness initiatives through programs such as tabling events, food samplings, cooking demonstrations, health fairs, and guest speaker events.

5. Work alongside the Marketing Manager to engage students through social media and promotional events to enhance meal sales.

6. Build and maintain relationships with clients, department heads, and community groups to align nutrition services with campus wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and Licensed Dietitian. RDN-eligible candidates may be considered.
- Proficient in PC applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with food production systems and nutrition analysis software is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety practices with ServSafe certification and food allergy awareness with AllerTrain certification; must be obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in K12 or higher education food service is preferred.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) to effectively interact with clients, students, and support staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
- Solid strategic, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- A strong value system, integrity, and good listening skills.
