Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive and driven Project Manager to lead our Water/Wastewater Practice. This role is essential in overseeing a variety of projects, guiding them from initial planning through to design, bidding, permitting, and construction phases. Responsibilities will encompass projects related to water supply, treatment, storage, distribution, and wastewater management.

The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of assigned projects, which includes client engagement, technical quality assurance, profitability management, and team coordination. Maintaining strong relationships with clients and facilitating effective communication among team members is crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Develops comprehensive scopes of services, project budgets, and contracts to align with client expectations.
  • Manages project timelines and financials, conducting formal reviews to ensure adherence to established goals.
  • Delegates tasks effectively among project teams and subcontractors, facilitating project meetings and status updates.
  • Provides mentorship and constructive feedback to enhance team performance through regular reviews.
  • Implements quality assurance processes tailored to project needs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Identifies and resolves technical, scheduling, or financial challenges through proactive communication.
  • Assists clients in the bidding process and contractor selection, overseeing construction activities and field personnel.
  • Coordinates all aspects of construction administration, including monitoring, invoicing, and fee collection.

Technical Project Delivery

  • Applies professional judgment to engineering tasks, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Takes technical responsibility for major design elements, aligning with stakeholder requirements.
  • Legally certifies engineering documents as an authorized representative of the firm.
  • Communicates effectively on technical matters, demonstrating autonomy in decision-making.

Business Development

  • Promotes cross-marketing of services to clients and engages in professional society activities relevant to the field.
  • Contributes to marketing strategies and maintains detailed records of client interactions.
  • Identifies new project opportunities and participates in proposal preparation.
  • Collaborates in interviews and aids in estimating timeframes and costs for proposed projects.
  • Sets and pursues sales objectives based on extensive industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Proven ability to market services, manage design and construction projects, and mentor staff.

Licenses and Certifications

Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and be eligible for licensure in additional states as required. A valid driver's license is also necessary for company-related travel.
