Job Summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator I to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting server-level enterprise applications and medical devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide Tier-II support for systems and applications, escalating issues to internal teams as necessary.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure the availability and integrity of systems, including server and workstation updates, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, contacts, and functionality, as well as contribute to the development of troubleshooting guides and knowledge bases.
  • Vendor Management: Communicate effectively with system vendors to ensure timely resolution of issues and maintenance of working relationships.
  • System Security: Protect hospital assets and information by maintaining secure systems, adhering to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • System Integrity and Retention: Verify application logs and monitoring tools to resolve issues that could compromise data integrity, ensuring retention periods for application data align with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Utilize application functionality to create, schedule, distribute, and print reports, as well as model, design, monitor, and support system interfaces.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Apply basic problem-solving skills to resolve application, workstation, and server issues, escalating to internal and external resources as necessary.
  • Systems and Application Knowledge: Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned systems, including design, interfaces, end-user workflow, and end-to-end system knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in a related Information Systems field.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Information Systems or related field, 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, and technical certifications related to ITIL, Windows Administration, Linux Administration, or other IT or system-related fields.
