Position Overview
JOB TITLE: Systems Support Analyst - GIS
DEPARTMENT: Support Services
PAY RANGE: System Support Analyst I: $51,000 - $63,700; System Support Analyst II: $62,300 - $77,900
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additional hours may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the Geographic Information System (GIS) and associated databases.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance processes and improve data model accuracy.
- Develop and sustain automated processes using programming languages such as FME and Python.
- Create and produce data sets for both internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Analyze asset and location data to support operational decisions.
- Report on backlogged work to identify root causes and implement resolutions.
- Review and analyze work orders for accuracy and completeness, identifying opportunities for process enhancements.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to apply GIS techniques and applications to analyze variables in specific geographic areas. They should be skilled in extracting data from GIS software and employing various analytical methods to derive meaningful insights.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or Engineering is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience with GIS software, map interpretation, and electric utility knowledge is required. Familiarity with AUD, AutoCAD, ArcFM, and ESRI mapping software is advantageous.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of computer applications and the ability to work with diverse computer processes. Critical thinking skills are essential for analyzing and interpreting data accurately. Attention to detail is crucial.
Familiarity with database programming languages such as SQL is expected.
Analytical mindset with a solid understanding of statistical and mathematical principles to analyze large datasets effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present information clearly to various stakeholders. Proficiency in GIS, CSS, Work Management, Outlook, and Office365 applications is preferred, along with basic skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects efficiently while maintaining high-quality work standards. Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential.
Licenses and Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required.
Work Environment:
This position involves hybrid office conditions, requiring continuous visual attention to ensure high-quality work. Occasional travel may be necessary.
