About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IMS Database Administrator to join our team at Ensono. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IMS database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement database recovery mechanisms and procedures to ensure high availability and data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain database security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve database-related issues and implement new technologies.
  • Perform daily database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and monitoring of file extent growth.
  • Develop and implement database optimization strategies to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities to ensure 24/7 database support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in IMS database administration and systems programming.
  • Extensive knowledge of IMS database organization, including VSAM and OSAM access methods.
  • Experience with database design and related utilities, including DBD source coding and DBDGEN.
  • Knowledge of IMS commands related to ACB and FORMAT changes, as well as online change and unload procedures.
  • Experience with database monitoring, space management, and performance issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
