Patient Care Technician

Your next career opportunity is here Join our dedicated team in a 28-bed high-acuity medical-surgical unit that specializes in the post-operative care of patients undergoing various surgical procedures. Our unit focuses on interprofessional management of conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, and hepatobiliary disorders. Our team of Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5, ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes that surpass national standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal care to promote optimal recovery during their hospital stay.
- Perform basic nursing tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, adhering to established policies and procedures to enhance patient health and wellness.
- Ensure a safe environment and the secure delivery of care.
- Execute administrative support functions as required.
- Maintain necessary skills and competencies for the role.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: No prior experience necessary
Licensure: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
Certification: Must be certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia or meet one of the following criteria:
- Successful completion of an approved Patient Care Technician (PCT) Education Program.
- Documented proof of at least one year of recent experience in a similar PCT role from an accredited institution.
- Passage of a nationally recognized PCT Certification exam.
This position requires frequent bending, stooping, and the ability to lift/push/pull over 100 lbs. Candidates may be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
