Key Responsibilities- Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance programs.
- Complete and submit applications, ensuring timely and accurate documentation in our company systems and hospital systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service skills, maintaining a professional and empathetic demeanor at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date on changing rules and regulations associated with government programs.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors to ensure seamless patient care.
- Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork necessary for Medicaid patient enrollment and renewal.
- Maintain structured and timely contact with applicants and government agencies, ensuring timely communication of approvals and denials.
- Assist applicants in gathering additional reports or records, meeting appointment dates and times, and arranging transportation as needed.
- Request home visits to acquire documentation, as per established protocols.
- Inform clients of all approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, except when required by our client.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Adaptability when dealing with constantly changing processes, computer systems, and government programs.
- Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
- Exemplary critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients' rooms for up to 8 hours per day.
- Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to a variety of individuals.
- Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish.
