Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Assistant will support the Lead Community Manager in the daily management of properties, oversee site-based personnel, and play a vital role in achieving the financial and mission-oriented goals of the properties. This role involves close collaboration with the Lead Community Manager, Resident Services team, and external partners to enhance community welfare and ensure positive outcomes for tenants and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate coordination among residents, housing staff, resident services, and community partners to optimize property performance and community health.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Lead Community Manager, Resident Services, and site staff.
  • Assist in supervising site-based personnel.
  • Conduct regular inspections of properties and units to ensure safety, cleanliness, and stability.
  • Familiarize oneself with the activities, programs, and mission of Central City Concern.
  • Help prepare and submit reports accurately and on time.
  • Support the screening process for potential housing applicants in collaboration with Resident Supportive Services.
  • Work closely with the Lead Community Manager to ensure all documentation for new residents is complete and accurate.
  • Assist in eviction processes as necessary.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, pest control, and janitorial teams to uphold high standards of property maintenance.
  • Engage with external vendors to ensure quality and value across the portfolio.
  • Maximize occupancy rates by coordinating tenant move-ins with the Lead Community Manager and Resident Services.
  • Complete move-out documentation and conduct inspections to expedite unit turnovers.
  • Participate in unit turnovers to maintain quality control and efficiency.
  • Assist in issuing notices for lease violations and community rule breaches.
  • Support rent collection, banking, and other occupancy-related documentation.
  • Prepare occupancy reports for housing and accounting purposes.
  • Respond to building emergencies as required.
  • Provide backup janitorial and minor maintenance services when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for tenants transitioning to permanent housing.
  • Assist with HMIS paperwork during tenant recertification.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member, prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Adhere to all applicable privacy and security regulations, reporting any breaches of protected information immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in community building assistance, including at least one year in a supervisory role, or two years of customer service experience in a housing context with one year in a lead capacity.
  • Familiarity with property management practices and tenant law is preferred.
  • Experience in community development and engagement with multicultural organizations is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance use issues is desirable.
  • Must comply with Central City Concern's drug-free workplace policy.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to the role, including lifting and operating equipment.
  • Driver's license preferred, with adherence to agency driving policies.
