Work Location: All responsibilities are conducted on-site at our shelters or within the community; this is not a remote or hybrid role.

Compensation: Starting hourly rate based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to recruit and manage volunteers and in-kind contributions to fulfill the needs of Our Just Future's emergency shelters, which accommodate approximately 270 individuals nightly. This role serves as a primary contact for prospective volunteers and external partners, emphasizing the importance of responsive and positive service.

Building and nurturing relationships with community stakeholders is crucial, as is coordinating with the communications and fundraising teams to integrate supporters into a cohesive database and communication framework.

Creativity, innovation, and a willingness to explore unconventional approaches are essential for success in this position, which allows for the implementation of creative solutions to enhance the experiences of shelter residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in managing Our Just Future's volunteer network, including recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervising, and expressing gratitude to volunteers.
  • Ensure the volunteer network fosters a safe and inclusive environment for diverse families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Collaborate with shelter staff to identify program needs and strategize volunteer and in-kind donation solutions to meet those needs.
  • Prioritize and coordinate solicitations for essential items such as food, bedding, hygiene products, and educational supplies from the broader community.
  • Identify and maintain relationships with community partners and donors to secure food donations for specific populations.
  • Document service and donation activities accurately and timely, adhering to Our Just Future's procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Capture and share photos on social media in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Engage with community organizations and individuals interested in volunteering or donating, focusing on meal provision and services.
  • Support shelter staff in effectively interacting with volunteers and donors visiting the shelters.

  • Experience in volunteer supervision is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with social service delivery is advantageous.

TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS

A reliable vehicle is necessary for transporting donated items, along with a current driver's license and insurance coverage meeting specified liability limits.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
