SUMMARY:
Food Service Providers play a crucial role in delivering healthy meals in accordance with USDA/CACFP guidelines. This role collaborates with a Nutrition Manager and Health Manager to design menus and promote nutritious eating habits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Execute responsibilities in alignment with HS Performance Standards, Content Area Plans, Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations, NAEYC, and NEKCA Standard of Conduct.
  • Complete NEKCA Performance Evaluations and Professional Development Self-Assessments, collaborating with supervisors on Individualized Professional Development Plans.
  • Recognize signs of child abuse and neglect, adhering to Vermont Mandated Reporter Law and program Child Protection Protocol.
  • Engage in center staff meetings, monthly content area meetings, pre-service, and in-services, integrating relevant knowledge and skills into practice.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not involve supervising any staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in preparing and displaying weekly menus at the center.
  • Deliver breakfast and lunch at scheduled times for enrolled children, staff, and adults, and aid in family-style serving.
  • Ensure meals are spaced appropriately, with at least 2.5 hours between them.
  • Support children during mealtime as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness by washing dishes, utensils, and dining areas to meet health and safety standards.
  • Actively participate in program and family/child staffing as requested.
  • Prepare and serve snacks for children, parents/guardians, staff, and community members during playgroups.
  • Plan and prepare afternoon snacks for children and staff in full-day programs.
  • Complete daily paperwork, including Food Services Provider's Daily Attendance, Meal Count Sheets, and CACFP Weekly Meal Records, submitting by month-end.
  • Conduct equipment inventory and submit with end-of-month paperwork in May.

  • Adhere to sanitation requirements as per program and Early Childhood Program Licensing Regulations, completing and submitting the Monthly Sanitation Checklist.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor.
  • Provide parents/guardians with a monthly menu reflecting daily offerings.
  • Coordinate with classroom staff to involve children in meal preparation and service on a rotating basis.
  • Plan and implement nutrition education activities with program staff for classroom and Early Head Start families, following the program Nutrition Plan.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

  • Reliable transportation to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member.
  • Complete a Physical Exam/TB Screening.

Background Checks:

Transportation Requirements:
This position requires a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
