Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowmaking Shift Lead to join our team at Jay Peak Resort. As a key member of our snowmaking operations team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of workers engaged in making snow on the mountain, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of the snowmaking system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Responsible for training employees in safe work practices and interpreting company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Snowmaking Operations: Assist in implementing the resort's snowmaking plan, with a focus on safety and maximum shift efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Regularly inspect and conduct necessary maintenance on snowmaking equipment, including checking lines, valves, and hydrants, and performing repairs as needed.
  • Equipment Operation: Maintain and operate snowmaking equipment, including snow cats, snow machines, and ATVs, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communication: Communicate with other mountain operations departments daily regarding mountain operations, snow conditions, and special needs.
  • Supervision: Directly supervise up to 5-7 employees in the Snowmaking department, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure the team is working effectively.
  • Guest Experience: Maintain a guest-focused culture in all areas of responsibility, ensuring that guests have a positive experience on the mountain.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or minimum three years related experience and/or training.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of experience in snowmaking operations, with a focus on leadership and supervision.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups. Ability to calculate figures and amounts, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Certifications: Valid Vermont Operator's License and pipe welding certification.
