SUMMARY:
Food Service Providers play a crucial role in delivering healthy meals in accordance with USDA/CACFP guidelines. This role collaborates with a Nutrition Manager and Health Manager to develop menus and promote nutritious eating habits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Execute responsibilities in alignment with HS Performance Standards, Content Area Plans, Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations, NAEYC, and NEKCA Standard of Conduct.
  • Complete NEKCA Performance Evaluations and Professional Development Self-Assessments, collaborating with supervisors on Individualized Professional Development Plans.
  • Recognize signs of child abuse and neglect, adhering to Vermont Mandated Reporter Law and program Child Protection Protocol.
  • Engage in center staff meetings, monthly content area meetings, pre-service, and in-services, integrating relevant knowledge and skills into practice.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not involve supervising any staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in preparing and displaying weekly menus at the center.
  • Deliver breakfast and lunch at scheduled times for enrolled children, staff, and adults, aiding in family-style service.
  • Support children during mealtime as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils, and dining areas to ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Participate actively in program and family/child staffing as requested.
  • Prepare and serve snacks for children, parents/guardians, staff, and community members during playgroups.
  • Plan and prepare afternoon snacks for children and staff in full-day programs.
  • Complete daily paperwork, including Food Services Provider's Daily Attendance and Meal Count Sheets, submitting by month-end.
  • Conduct equipment inventory and submit with end-of-month paperwork in May.
  • Adhere to sanitation requirements and complete Monthly Sanitation Checklists.
  • Provide monthly menus to parents/guardians reflecting daily offerings.
  • Coordinate with classroom staff to involve children in meal preparation and service.
  • Plan nutrition education activities with program staff for classroom and Early Head Start families.
  • Facilitate breaks for classroom staff as per center plan.
  • Conduct training for kitchen volunteers/substitutes on food service routines and sanitation requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of compost systems.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with the center team to collect and document non-federal share.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Core Competencies:
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill job requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Complete a Physical Exam/TB Screening.

Background Checks:
Employees in this role must undergo a background check as per NEKCA policy, which may include verification of education, employment history, and criminal records.

Transportation Requirements:
This position requires employees to possess a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Restaurants and kitchens can be noisy, particularly during peak hours.

Physical Demands:
Physical demands may include lifting heavy boxes, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks such as chopping, stirring, or cleaning.

Employees may be exposed to extreme temperatures, especially in kitchens near stoves, ovens, or grills.

Cleanliness and Hygiene:
Food service workers must adhere to strict cleanliness and hygiene standards, including personal hygiene and maintaining a clean work environment.

Safety Regulations:
