Job Overview

The Director of Surveillance is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Surveillance Department at Wind Creek Chicago Southland. This role provides guidance and support to the Surveillance departments at other Wind Creek Hospitality facilities, ensuring compliance with established company policies, procedures, and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee all activities within the surveillance room, ensuring seamless operations and effective monitoring.
  • Ensure team members comply with state regulations, company policies, and departmental procedures, maintaining a high level of integrity and accountability.
  • Investigate and monitor any suspicious activity, taking prompt action to address potential security threats.
  • Interact with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials to investigate criminal activity, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upgrade of the surveillance system, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Advise management on internal control and policy improvements to protect company assets, promoting a culture of security and compliance.
  • Train and supervise team members within the Surveillance Department, developing their skills and expertise to enhance departmental effectiveness.
  • Complete all paperwork in accordance with Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) and approved Wind Creek standards, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Report to the General Manager and Executive Vice President (EVP) Chief Compliance Officer regarding administrative matters and daily operations, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Manage staff and organize department functions in accordance with company guidelines, delegating tasks and department assignments to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Evaluate information to render opinions or take action, impacting the department or function, and focus on achieving goals and objectives using available resources.
  • Develop staff skills to enhance department effectiveness, manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures, and interview and recommend candidates for new hire.
  • Determine if and/or when policy or procedural infractions occur, issuing the appropriate level of progressive discipline, and conduct timely evaluations of direct reports and performance reviews.
  • Maintain an open-door policy, addressing team member issues and concerns in a timely manner, and conduct skip-level meetings with departmental management and line-level staff.
  • Conduct divisional/departmental staff meetings at least once per month, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED – required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field AND three (3) years' experience in a Casino Surveillance Management position – required
  • OR Seven (7) years' experience in a Casino Surveillance Management position – required
  • OR Five (5) years' experience in a Surveillance Management position with Wind Creek Hospitality– required
  • Knowledge of Illinois Gaming Board regulations- preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver's License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
