Role Overview:


As a key member of our Automation team, you will play a vital role in the design, specification, and development of advanced control systems for our process plants.

You will collaborate closely with the Automation team Manager and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and functionality of automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft Automation Functional Descriptions and Input/Output lists based on Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Create Network and Configuration diagrams for PLC/SCADA systems.
  • Develop PLC programs utilizing programming languages such as STL, LAD, and FBD for leading automation platforms including Siemens, Rockwell, and Schneider.
  • Design and implement HMI screens using software like WinCC, FT View, and Wonderware.
  • Conduct internal Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for PLC and HMI systems in collaboration with the team.
  • Facilitate external FAT with clients and group offices.
  • Coordinate with Project and Process teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Travel to project sites for the commissioning and start-up of automation systems.
  • Oversee the energization of electrical and automation control panels, ensuring all field systems are operational.
  • Perform Input/Output testing alongside client engineers.
  • Lead Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) with clients and site engineers.
  • Assist the start-up team in executing sequence tests, water trials, and overall plant commissioning.
  • Provide training to operators on plant operations.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electro-Mechanical or Automation).
  • Proven ability to independently develop software and commission complex systems.
  • Experience with STL, LAD, and FBD programming.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA products from major automation suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of field and process instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and hazardous area classifications.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Quick learner with the ability to devise innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English and French; additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, exceeding 50% of the time.
