Key Responsibilities

Process Evaluation and Enhancement:

  • Examine current manufacturing workflows, processes, and layouts to discover improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct time and motion studies, analyze data, and collect relevant metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to optimize production flow, minimize waste, and increase throughput.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to redesign processes, eliminate non-value-added activities, and enhance overall efficiency.

Production Coordination and Scheduling:

  • Partner with production managers and planners to create production schedules that align with customer needs and optimize resource use.
  • Conduct capacity planning assessments and offer recommendations for balancing workload and capacity limitations.
  • Assess production requirements, lead times, and inventory levels to establish efficient material flow and inventory management systems.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce lead times, inventory holding costs, and production cycle durations.

Workstation and Layout Optimization:

  • Enhance workstation layouts to improve ergonomics, reduce worker fatigue, and boost productivity.
  • Design effective material handling systems, including the layout of storage areas, material flow paths, and transportation methods.
  • Utilize simulation tools and techniques to assess and validate proposed layout modifications prior to implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of layout changes and equipment installations.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Identify avenues for process enhancements, cost reductions, and waste elimination.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead or participate in Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing training, guidance, and support to the manufacturing team.

Data Analysis and Performance Monitoring:

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement statistical process control (SPC) and ensure product quality standards are upheld.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; a master's degree is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial engineering roles within a manufacturing context.
  • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process optimization techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation tools.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to interpret complex data.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and material flow.
  • Familiarity with quality control and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Awareness of manufacturing technologies, equipment, and automation systems.
  • A continuous learning mindset to stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
