Position Scope:

Utilize engineering principles and methodologies to effectively complete technical assignments and projects. Make independent decisions based on sound engineering and scientific practices. Actively engage within and beyond departmental boundaries to address significant process and product challenges. Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the introduction of innovative ideas and techniques. Independently manage projects to achieve departmental objectives in areas such as cost reduction, productivity improvement, process optimization, capacity enhancement, waste reduction, and product/process advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist manufacturing in a continuous production environment, providing support to production staff and maintenance teams in daily troubleshooting of equipment and processes, conducting trend analyses of recurring issues, and developing proposals/designs/training to mitigate those issues and minimize machine downtime.
  • Oversee division governance of winding technology, including managing division Quality documentation related to winding.
  • Collaborate daily with operators and production team leaders to monitor and rectify potential process variances.
  • Manage all aspects of integrating new equipment into production, including financial justification preparation, design, specification, procurement, and tracking of all project-related expenditures.
  • Create maintenance and operator training materials, conduct equipment qualification, and provide initial training for production personnel while ensuring adequate repair parts inventory levels.
  • Document all project aspects using various project and change management tools.
  • Initiate and implement process or equipment enhancements to reduce waste/cost, increase production rates, or improve overall product performance and quality through the application of engineering principles.
  • Support the transition of new cabling and fiber technologies or materials from development teams to the production environment.
  • Provide processing support during product development, devising plans for how equipment/processes will be utilized in production and ensuring that new technologies are reproducible in a production setting prior to transfer.
  • Ensure all production and maintenance documentation is completed, including MI's, SOP's, PM's, and calibration.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement team initiatives and perform all tasks in accordance with DMAIC/Six Sigma methodologies when applicable.
  • Exhibit excellent presentation skills for diverse audiences, ranging from manufacturing associates to executive-level personnel.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 25% (Domestic)

Work Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. May require support during off-hours production.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management experience.
  • Knowledge of polymers and extrusion processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Familiarity with controls, including programming.
