Ground Systems Engineering and Manufacturing Lead

ABL Space Systems is a pioneering company that aims to revolutionize the space industry by providing low-cost launch vehicles and modular ground systems. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to lead our ground system builds and operations team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians in the fabrication and assembly of ground support equipment required for launch.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of ground support systems.
- Drive innovation in ground support equipment design, championing design for manufacturing and operations changes.
- Ensure compliance with stringent safety standards, regulatory requirements, and mission-specific constraints throughout the equipment development lifecycle.
- Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of ground support equipment, optimizing processes to meet project milestones and quality objectives.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure quality.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 2+ years in a quality leadership role.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certification processes for aerospace hardware, such as range requirements.
- Extensive experience in aerospace engineering and project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals.
- Proficiency in CAD software, simulation tools, and other engineering software applications.
- Deep understanding of aerospace ground support systems, including launch pad infrastructure, fueling systems, and payload integration hardware.
- Dedicated team player who is excited about ABL's mission.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and telepresence.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment.
