Position Summary
The Production Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and executing manufacturing processes and protocols for the assembly, testing, and deployment of satellites, their subsystems, and components. This role's internal job classification is Manufacturing Engineer, and we are currently seeking candidates for Level 3-4 positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulates manufacturing processes by analyzing product specifications; researching, designing, modifying, and testing production techniques and machinery; collaborating with equipment suppliers.
- Evaluates designs for manufacturability and scalability; leading and executing necessary tasks to transition hardware production from initial low-rate to higher-rate manufacturing.
- Enhances manufacturing productivity by assessing and organizing workflow, spatial requirements, and equipment configuration.
- Ensures product and process quality by devising testing methodologies; assessing finished product and process capabilities; establishing benchmarks; verifying manufacturing procedures.
- Delivers manufacturing decision-making insights by calculating production, labor, and material expenses; reviewing production timelines; forecasting future needs.
- Compiles product and process reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (ABET accreditation required)
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or testing engineering or a related field in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial sectors
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting engineering schematics, technical documentation, and policies, with the ability to recommend procedural changes.
- Strong understanding of IPC-A-600 & IPC-A-610 standards
- Familiarity with NASA-STD-8739.1
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis with sound engineering-based corrective actions.
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline (ABET accreditation required)
- Comprehensive understanding of root cause analysis and associated analytical techniques (Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa Analysis, 8D, etc.)
- Knowledge of engineering and project management theories, principles, and practices.
- Experience in Aerospace and/or Department of Defense sectors
- Background in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement
- Experience in PCB/PCBA Manufacturing
- Familiarity with Altium Designer
- Knowledge of IPC-6012, IPC-4101, and IPC-7711C/7721C standards
- Certification in IPC-A-600 & IPC-A-610
