Culinary Preparation Specialist

As a Culinary Preparation Specialist at Thomas Management LLC, you will play a vital role in the kitchen by preparing and portioning ingredients essential for crafting wholesome meals from scratch for our patients, visitors, and staff. Your responsibilities will include adhering to recipes, ensuring cleanliness, and enhancing the kitchen's operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is meticulous, efficient, and dedicated to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety within a healthcare setting.
Compensation: $24.93 per hour, based on experience (DOE)
This is a per diem role, with the potential for up to 40 hours of work per week. There is no fixed schedule, and hours are not guaranteed. Shifts may commence as early as 5 AM and conclude as late as 8:30 PM, with all shifts lasting 8 hours within a 7-day operational framework, not exceeding 5 days (40 hours) weekly. All positions are considered temp-to-hire opportunities.
Successful candidates may be presented with the chance to transition to a permanent role after 120 days, which includes a drug screening, background verification, and security assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ingredient Preparation: Clean, peel, chop, and portion ingredients in accordance with recipe guidelines.
- Recipe Compliance: Adhere to standardized recipes and portion sizes to guarantee consistency and quality in meal preparation.
- Inventory Oversight: Assist in managing inventory by monitoring ingredient levels and notifying kitchen personnel of any shortages or inconsistencies.
- Sanitation Standards: Uphold cleanliness and sanitation in the preparation area, including equipment and utensils, in line with health and safety regulations.
- Patient Interaction: Serve and assist patients and retail food outlets.
- Kitchen Assistance: Support kitchen staff with various tasks, including food preparation, supply stocking, and organizing storage areas.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect ingredients for freshness and quality, discarding any items that do not meet established standards.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist with special projects, events, and other tasks as required to support the overall operations and objectives of the organization.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a prep cook or kitchen assistant, preferably in a healthcare or culinary environment.
- Direct customer service experience is preferred.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes and portion sizes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Physical endurance to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is advantageous.
- A positive demeanor and a willingness to collaborate with kitchen staff to achieve meal preparation objectives.
