Clark College is actively seeking candidates for a part-time Professor role to instruct a range of in-person Cuisine short courses. This may encompass summer teaching and/or hybrid course formats as required.

This ongoing recruitment allows for applications to be submitted throughout the year. Candidates should be prepared to teach during daytime, evening, or weekend hours, with positions filled based on program requirements.

Position Responsibilities

GENERAL FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instruct the ServSafe Manager course.
  • Deliver ACF Apprenticeship curriculum.
  • Teach courses such as Barbecue Basics, Banquets & Buffets, Wine Appreciation, and Beer, Spirits & Distilling.
  • Guide classes and labs using culinary fundamentals, safety, sanitation, and cooking processes that promote student learning.
  • Educate students on the proper and safe use of culinary equipment and tools.
  • Enhance teaching methods and promote active learning.
  • Adapt teaching techniques to accommodate diverse student learning styles.
  • Utilize relevant computer applications for instruction and communication as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the College's mission, student demographics, and educational objectives.
  • Adhere to curriculum and operational standards of the cuisine department.
  • Engage in departmental and college committees to contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commit to the mission of Clark College.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Possession of a Washington State Food Handler's card.
  • Culinary degree OR equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in mentoring, training, or teaching.
  • ServSafe OR ACF Certification OR the ability to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Supplemental Information

SALARY STATEMENT: Lecture hourly rate is $90.47/hour, and lab hourly rate is $77.27/hour.
