Clark College is on the lookout for candidates to fill a part-time faculty position, responsible for instructing a range of in-person culinary short courses. This may encompass summer sessions and/or hybrid course formats as required.

This ongoing recruitment allows for applications to be submitted throughout the year. Candidates should be prepared to teach during daytime, evening, or weekend hours as needed. Positions will be filled based on program requirements.

Position Responsibilities

GENERAL FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver the ServSafe Manager course.
  • Teach the ACF Apprenticeship curriculum.
  • Conduct courses such as Barbecue Basics, Banquets & Buffets, Wine Appreciation, and others.
  • Facilitate class and lab sessions utilizing culinary techniques, safety protocols, and cooking processes that enhance student learning.
  • Guide students in the safe and proper use of culinary equipment and tools.
  • Continuously seek to improve teaching and active learning methodologies.
  • Employ suitable teaching strategies to accommodate diverse student learning styles.
  • Utilize relevant computer applications for instructional and communication purposes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the college's mission, student demographics, and educational objectives.
  • Adhere to the curriculum and operational standards of the culinary department.
  • Engage in departmental and college committees to contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Strive to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commit to the mission of Clark College.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Possession of a Washington State Food Handler's card.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in mentoring, training, or teaching.
  • ServSafe or ACF Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Supplemental Information

SALARY STATEMENT: Lecture hourly rate is $90.47/hour, and lab hourly rate is $77.27/hour.
