Role Responsibilities:

The Production Underwriting Assistant plays a vital role in driving the growth and success of USG by supporting new business initiatives, nurturing client relationships, and facilitating efficient administrative operations. This position represents the second tier in our production career pathway. Your keen attention to detail, exceptional organizational abilities, and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our company.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Requesting and evaluating application specifications from retail agents, summarizing completed applications along with exposures, loss history, target pricing, and submitting to brokerage carriers for quotations.
  • Reviewing all solicited quotations and negotiating final pricing, terms, and conditions with selected carriers.
  • Preparing and submitting final quotations for recommended carriers to retail agents.
  • Managing the binding and invoicing processes for accounts.
  • Tracking renewal progress and final outcomes, including:
    • Compiling and documenting all necessary information to bind and invoice accounts.
    • Reviewing and processing all mid-term endorsements, cancellations, and audit requests.
    • Delivering timely and accurate customer service to retail agents.
    • Providing marketing and quoting assistance for new business as required.
    • Reviewing and approving final policy issuance for MGA renewal accounts.
    • Requesting, reviewing, and approving all loss control reports for renewal business according to company guidelines.
  • Communicating and confirming with retail agents regarding compliance with actions based on findings from loss control reports per carrier requirements.
  • Performing duties in a manner that minimizes errors and omissions.
  • Consistently exhibiting a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude while fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Participating in company-approved seminars and educational activities to stay updated on the latest industry developments, trends, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant insurance experience, including wholesale brokerage/MGA, retail insurance agency, or insurance company background.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software applications and basic typing skills.
  • Understanding of basic property and casualty insurance, including forms, endorsements, rating methods, and terminology.
  • Ability to perform calculations related to annual and short-term premiums, additional and return premiums for endorsements and audits, commissions, policy fees, taxes, etc.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • A C.I.S.R. or P&C license is preferred but not mandatory.
