Role Summary:
The Production Underwriting Assistant plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our organization by supporting new business initiatives, nurturing client relationships, and ensuring streamlined administrative processes. This position represents the second tier in the production career pathway at USG. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be instrumental in the effective operation of our company. In this role, you will assist with various tasks related to sales, client management, and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Request and assess application specifications from retail agents, summarizing completed applications along with exposures, loss history, target pricing, and submitting to brokerage carriers for quotation.
- Review all solicited quotations and negotiate final pricing, terms, and conditions with identified carriers.
- Prepare and submit final quotations for recommended carriers to the retail agent.
- Manage the binding and invoicing of accounts.
- Track renewal progress and final outcomes.
- Prepare and document all necessary information required to bind and invoice accounts.
- Review and process all mid-term endorsements, cancellations, and audit requests.
- Deliver timely and accurate customer service to retail agents.
- Provide new business marketing and quote assistance as needed.
- Review and approve the final policy issuance for MGA renewal accounts.
- Request, review, and approve all loss control reports for renewal business per company guidelines.
Candidate Profile:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant insurance experience, which may include wholesale brokerage/MGA, retail insurance agency, or insurance company experience.
- Proficiency in Windows-based software applications and basic typing skills.
- Understanding of basic Property & Casualty insurance, forms, endorsements, rating methods, and terminology.
- Ability to perform calculations related to annual and short-term premiums, additional and return premiums related to endorsements and audits, commissions, policy fees, taxes, etc.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- A C.I.S.R. or P&C license is preferred but not mandatory.
