Position Overview:

VHB's Water Resources division is expanding throughout New England, and we are in search of a Senior Water Resources Engineer who possesses robust expertise in hydraulics and hydrology. This role is pivotal in leading our vibrant team of Water Resource engineers and scientists. Location: This position offers flexibility and can be based in various New England offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multi-disciplinary projects with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and resilience, ensuring effective collaboration with team members and clients.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies for riverine and coastal settings utilizing advanced modeling software.
  • Analyze and design flood and resilience improvements, incorporating both engineered solutions and nature-based approaches.
  • Assist clients with FEMA-related analyses and map revisions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design plans, and specifications for water resource initiatives.
  • Lead construction administration efforts for water resource projects.
  • Collaborate with VHB's integrated team to assess permit requirements and facilitate the development of permit applications.
  • Engage in meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Drive the creation of project proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
  • Mentor and enhance the technical capabilities of team members.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

  • Proven expertise in collaborative problem-solving with clients and stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, with the ability to apply the appropriate methodologies to client challenges.
  • Commitment to staff development and mentorship.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting processes.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 11-15 years of professional experience in water resources engineering and analysis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
