Opportunity Overview

Join our dynamic Geotechnical and Tunneling Division and take a leadership role in projects that address our clients' needs and challenges. We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Vice President to enhance our team.

Your Contributions

  • Design and oversee geotechnical subsurface investigation initiatives.
  • Direct geotechnical engineering design and analysis for various structures including bridges, buildings, tunnels, and retaining walls with minimal oversight.
  • Draft and evaluate geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design documentation.
  • Organize and lead field observations and special inspections of geotechnical construction activities.
  • Manage project tasks and prepare comprehensive reports and contract documents.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate geotechnical efforts across New England and other regions.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the United States.
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and familiarity with related fields such as Structures, Civil, Environmental, and Planning.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable codes and standards.
  • Extensive experience in the design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
  • Proficient in developing Geotechnical Reports and Contract Documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with clients, regulators, project managers, and team members at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently while providing guidance to mid-level and senior team members, ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Proficient in technical writing and familiar with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and various geotechnical analysis tools.
  • Experienced in critically reviewing documents and preparing complex technical deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret testing results and data effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability in coordinating subcontractors and ensuring task completion with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork as necessary.
  • Must pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Commitment to ethical decision-making and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Proven track record of maintaining workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) is preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
