JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the President, this position will support the evaluation, marketing, and placement of commercial real estate financing. The analyst plays a crucial role in assessing and processing loans throughout the underwriting, marketing, and closing stages of the loan production process. This role provides exposure to structuring real estate debt and equity investments, as well as a diverse range of capital sources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conducting underwriting for income-generating properties utilizing Excel and ARGUS. The analyst is responsible for intricate financial modeling of commercial real estate (including office, retail, industrial, and multi-family properties) and leveraging data (market statistics, rent, and sale comparables) to accurately assess a transaction.
  • Evaluating commercial mortgage requests to ascertain value, risk, and feasibility.
  • Investigating commercial real estate markets both locally and nationally.
  • Preparing detailed loan request packages that encompass – executive summary, financial analysis, borrower/sponsor profile, market overview, property specifics, and an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed transaction.
  • Assisting in the loan marketing, application, commitment, and closing procedures.
  • Overseeing the flow of information and timelines during the closing process, which includes collecting due diligence materials for lenders, coordinating and managing third-party reports, reviewing and summarizing leases, and performing various analyses related to closing statement figures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Utilize critical thinking to effectively analyze commercial real estate transactions, model property cash flows in Excel and ARGUS, and evaluate feasibility and risk.
  • Communicate technical analyses clearly, articulately, and concisely through sales-oriented writing and email correspondence.
  • Demonstrate the ability, knowledge, and critical thinking skills necessary to manage a commercial real estate transaction from inception to completion. A strong desire and commitment to successfully close transactions in a timely manner to meet and/or exceed client expectations is essential.
  • The analyst is vital to the team's success, being accountable to team members, lenders, and clients for accuracy and deadlines. Effective time management, prioritizing multiple projects, following up on commitments, collaborating with others, and maintaining a positive attitude are crucial for success in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Establish and nurture key relationships within the lender community. Develop a strong understanding of lender programs, processes, and practices, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for the team.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Business, Finance, and/or Real Estate Finance is required. Previous experience in Finance or Mortgage Lending is essential. An MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
