Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

This role oversees the production supervisor team and Packroom to meet production objectives. Responsibilities include strategizing, organizing, and managing production processes to ensure timely, efficient, and budget-conscious product output while upholding quality and safety standards. A comprehensive understanding of the interplay between production and essential departments (customer service, human resources, payroll, and engineering) is crucial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conducts daily operational meetings.
  2. Works closely with human resources on employee performance and relations.
  3. Performs weekly payroll assessments and approvals, managing time off and attendance.
  4. Develops and oversees production supervisor schedules.
  5. Monitors production activities through the production supervisor team, preparing and presenting reports to the Director of Operations.
  6. Effectively leads the production supervisor team.
  7. Ensures adherence to quality standards.
  8. Evaluates production and quality metrics to identify and address challenges.
  9. Modifies staffing schedules as needed and provides backup support to production supervisors.
  10. Maintains a safe and organized work environment by instructing personnel on compliance with policies and procedures.
  11. Collaborates with safety vendors to support the company's safety initiatives.
  12. Works with customer service to promptly address client needs.
  13. Manages plant supplies to ensure sufficient inventory levels.
  14. Actively engages in Lean initiatives and drives improvements, ensuring effective implementation by production supervisors.
  15. Interacts with union representatives to address employee matters in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, fostering positive relations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. In-depth knowledge of production methodologies and techniques.
  2. Preferred experience with laundry systems (e.g., Linen Master, e-tech, Milnor).
  3. Business insight for future strategic planning.
  4. Ability to learn new systems effectively.
  5. Familiarity with plant safety protocols.
  6. Excellent communication capabilities.
  7. Strong analytical skills.
  8. Commitment to ethical practices.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position directly manages the production team, responsible for recruitment, training, performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements necessary for successful job performance. The employee is expected to stand or walk for most of the day and may also need to: sit; manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; maintain balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate verbally; and utilize senses such as taste or smell. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years in a production setting.
  • At least three years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Experience in a unionized work environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic proficiency in technology (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
