Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

This role oversees the production supervisory team and the Packroom to meet production objectives. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and controlling production processes to ensure timely, efficient, and budget-compliant product output while upholding quality and safety standards. A comprehensive understanding of how production interacts with essential departments such as customer service, human resources, payroll, and engineering is crucial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conducts daily operational meetings.
  2. Works in partnership with human resources on performance evaluations and employee relations.
  3. Performs weekly payroll assessments and approvals, managing time off and absenteeism.
  4. Develops and oversees production supervisor work schedules.
  5. Supervises production activities through the production supervisor team, preparing and delivering production reports in meetings and to the Director of Operations.
  6. Effectively leads the production supervisor team.
  7. Ensures adherence to quality standards.
  8. Analyzes production and quality metrics to identify and rectify issues.
  9. Modifies staffing schedules as needed and acts as a backup for production supervisors when required.
  10. Promotes a safe and clean workplace by instructing and guiding staff on control points, equipment, and resources in line with policies and procedures.
  11. Collaborates with safety vendors to maintain the organization's safety program.
  12. Partners with customer service to promptly address client needs.
  13. Manages plant supplies, ensuring sufficient inventory levels.
  14. Actively engages in Lean initiatives and promotes Lean improvements, ensuring effective implementation by production supervisors.
  15. Interacts with union representatives, including stewards, to address employee matters in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, fostering positive relations.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  2. Strong familiarity with laundry systems preferred (e.g., Linen Master, e-tech, Milnor, etc.).

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

This position directly manages the production team and is accountable for recruitment, training, performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is expected to stand or walk for the majority of the day and is also required to: sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; maintain balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate verbally or audibly; and detect scents or tastes. The employee may occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a production setting.
  • At least three years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Experience in a unionized work environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic proficiency in technology (Computer Software: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
