People Operations Manager

The Human Resources Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive workplace at Avenues for Youth. This position is dedicated to enhancing our organizational culture, promoting effective communication, and ensuring equity across all human resources practices. The HR Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to employees, addressing human resources inquiries and spearheading the development and implementation of HR policies and initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities outlined below are integral to this role and are not exhaustive:
Recruitment and Onboarding- Develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of candidates.
- Collaborate with management throughout the recruitment cycle, including job postings, interviews, and background checks.
- Facilitate a smooth onboarding experience for new employees.
- Regularly update job descriptions and organizational staffing frameworks.
- Act as a resource for staff at all levels, addressing questions related to internal policies and procedures.
- Design and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission and foster a healthy workplace culture.
- Manage disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with established policies and legal standards.
- Ensure adherence to labor laws and regulations, working with external consultants to enhance compliance efforts.
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
- Analyze HR data to support decision-making through metrics.
- Oversee the management of digital personnel records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Lead the performance management process, including annual reviews and development plans.
- Provide training and resources to enhance management practices.
- Support managers and employees in addressing performance-related issues.
- Administer the compensation program, ensuring equity in salary reviews.
- Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate wage calculations and compliance.
- Oversee benefits enrollment and termination processes, including COBRA administration.
- Coordinate the annual Open Enrollment period, providing necessary updates to staff.
- Conduct exit interviews and assist with post-employment benefits.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and respond to unemployment inquiries.
- Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and best practices.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to make informed decisions and communicate effectively with staff.
- Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Understanding of social justice issues and the needs of marginalized populations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to new information quickly.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
This role requires the ability to perform essential functions, including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

CompensationThe salary range for this position is between $63,500 and $70,500 annually, commensurate with experience. Avenues for Youth offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental coverage, and generous paid time off.
