Points North, a premier software firm specializing in compliance and reporting, is in search of a Chief People and Culture Officer to enhance its expanding workforce.


This role operates in a hybrid capacity, with a requirement to be present in the Minneapolis office two days a week, or more if preferred.


As a vital member of the Points North Business Team, the Chief People and Culture Officer will oversee all facets of Human Resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits management, performance evaluation, and the formulation and execution of HR policies and procedures.

The Chief People and Culture Officer acts as a strategic consultant to leadership on organizational structure and personnel management.

This role encompasses both strategic and operational duties that provide measurable benefits to the organization and an outstanding experience for employees.

The compensation range for this position is between $100,000 and $120,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition and Management


Formulate and ensure the effective execution of strategies, systems, policies, and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management, employee engagement, legal compliance, and recordkeeping.

Oversee the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, including the integration of technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Continuously improve organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures. Supervise HR personnel.


Engage in workforce planning and budgeting, identify potential obstacles to employee recruitment, hiring, and retention, and establish metrics.

Evaluate employee professional development needs and create a professional development plan.

Drive recruitment and talent acquisition strategies to attract suitable candidates. Manage recruitment initiatives to ensure effective and efficient sourcing and selection of candidates. Assist in identifying critical talent needs, developing core competencies, and engaging leadership in succession planning.


Lead the efficient administration of the performance management process, ensuring that managers are equipped to provide constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching, collaborate effectively in co-managing staff, and encourage staff participation in addressing performance gaps.


Clearly communicate HR priorities and action items; prepare monthly reports that incorporate relevant functional, operational, and financial metrics to track progress and demonstrate HR contributions to organizational performance.


Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of all pertinent laws and regulations at local, state, and national levels concerning employment and ensure organizational compliance.

This includes educating and advising leaders on HR-related legal and regulatory matters and ensuring HR programs, practices, and policies are aligned.

Must exercise considerable judgment and discretion in handling significant company matters.

Total Rewards Administration


Design, implement, manage, and regularly review a competitive compensation structure and benefits package, including compensation, benefits, retirement, recognition, engagement, and other programs that are cost-effective and aligned with market trends and organizational objectives to attract and retain talent.

Manage benefit broker resources and the benefits enrollment process. Oversee leave administration and payroll functions.

Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding system.

Identify strategies to enhance staff retention and productivity, including methods to improve employee engagement, leadership and staff development, regular feedback and coaching, career pathing, and fostering a diverse and professional work culture.


Strategic Advisor


This role necessitates a genuine strategic business partner who is collaborative and capable of fostering consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes.

In collaboration with leadership, develop and drive the alignment of the HR strategic plan to fulfill the vision of Points North, creating value for its stakeholders.

Provide insights and guidance on strategic decisions, mentor and coach managers on people management and engagement. Understand and effectively lead change within a dynamic, growth-oriented organization.


Partner with the leadership team to achieve the vision, mission, and goals of Points North by emphasizing performance and results through data-driven and objective frameworks.

Identify, analyze, and address complex workforce challenges.

Leverage and communicate HR practices and organizational goals to provide clarity, insights, and guidance on strategic decisions.

Maintain a degree of independence and objectivity to offer diverse perspectives, mitigate risk, and ensure HR initiatives align with the organization's best interests.

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent years of experience in Human Resources.

A minimum of 5-7 years of HR generalist experience collaborating directly with senior leadership to develop, align, and implement HR and organizational development strategies.

Extensive knowledge of employment laws and compliance issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
HRCI and/or SHRM Certification.
Experience supervising and developing Human Resources personnel.
Experience at a senior or mid-senior level implementing strategies and systems for talent management, compensation, and benefits.
Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
Experience providing thoughtful, progressive, and strategic guidance.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present internal presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR system applications.
Lean/Six Sigma certification is desirable.
Must be able to travel to satellite office locations as needed.
