Housekeeping Operations Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is an entry-level management role focused on assisting with the daily operations of Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry services as applicable. The position involves directing and collaborating with staff to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms and public areas. Responsibilities include conducting inspections and ensuring accountability for corrective measures. The role plays a vital part in enhancing guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operational budget.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in housekeeping or a related field.
- 2-year degree from an accredited institution in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline; no prior work experience required.
Overseeing Housekeeping Operations and Budgets
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Manages all lost and found procedures.
- Receives lists of rooms requiring cleaning and prepares work assignments accordingly.
- Conducts inventory checks to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
- Communicates guest room status to the Front Desk promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborates effectively with the Engineering department regarding guest room maintenance.
- Understands and adheres to loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Ensures all staff have the necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
- Supervises daily operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies and standards.
- Assists in implementing an effective inspection program for all guest rooms and public spaces.
- Manages linen inventory and guest supplies, assisting in ordering as needed.
- Oversees Housekeeping and related areas in the absence of the Director of Services or Housekeeping Manager.
- Addresses guest issues and complaints, seeking supervisor assistance when necessary.
- Participates in reviewing guest feedback and satisfaction results with staff.
- Empowers team members to deliver outstanding customer service within established guidelines.
- Supports training initiatives for both current and new staff members.
- Involved in the investigation of employee incidents as needed.
- Communicates performance expectations to housekeeping staff in line with job descriptions and monitors progress.
- Provides coaching, counseling, and encouragement to employees.
- Manages payroll processes.
- Observes employee service behaviors and provides constructive feedback; continually seeks to enhance service performance.
- Supervises staffing levels to meet guest service, operational requirements, and financial goals.
- Identifies areas needing attention and communicates these to staff, ensuring understanding.
- Participates in the hiring process for housekeeping team members with the appropriate skills.
- Handles employee disciplinary procedures as necessary.
- Utilizes the Labor Management System for effective scheduling based on business demands and tracking employee attendance.
- Supervises housekeeping shifts, including task assignments.
- Sets a positive example for guest relations.
- Engages in the employee performance appraisal process, providing feedback as required.
