POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct clinical oversight of the Behavior Analyst and with programmatic support from the New Directions Program Director, the Assistant Manager is tasked with supervising the daily operations of behavioral therapies and programming.

This role encompasses conducting behavioral evaluations, monitoring patient progress, auditing programming, collecting data, and providing direct clinical care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and various psychiatric conditions.

The Assistant Manager will adhere to the directives of BCBA and physician guidelines, as well as hospital protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Program Manager (BCBA) and Program Director in the comprehensive management of the New Directions Program.
  • Oversee and mentor clinical staff, including RBTs, ensuring compliance with treatment plans and protocols.
  • Manage the execution of behavior intervention strategies and data collection methods.
  • Engage in regular team meetings, including daily huddles and team conferences, to ensure the effective implementation of the New Directions Program and master treatment plan objectives.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including psychiatry, rehabilitation therapists, and medical personnel, to deliver holistic care.
  • Contribute to the assessment, formulation, and evaluation of individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Evaluate program efficacy and engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Establish effective communication channels with staff to identify organizational and behavioral challenges affecting patient recovery and propose enhancements for staff/patient interactions.
  • Facilitate New Employee Orientation and other training sessions for team members (RBTs, nursing, and other clinical staff).
  • Complete and document all necessary paperwork, including assessment scales (DBC2, ABC2) for assigned patients promptly.
  • Conduct family training and participate in discharge planning for assigned patients.
  • Utilize appropriate applied behavior teaching, communication, and reinforcement strategies.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional attitude towards guidance from supervisors and other management team members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess patient and unit needs, effectively communicating those needs to relevant management.
  • Provide behavioral support in various therapeutic modalities, including music therapy, art therapy, pet therapy, and any additional external resources integrated into the facility.
  • Adhere to all Nexus Health Systems procedures and guidelines.
  • Act as a mentor for incoming behavioral health staff and nursing personnel.
  • Report any observed issues on the floor to appropriate staff members, including nursing leadership, program director, medical directors, and BCBA.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development by pursuing relevant CEUs.
  • Assist in coordinating autism and mental health hospital initiatives.
  • Complete onboarding for new RBTs, including training on programming and operational expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a neurodevelopmental or behavioral health environment within a hospital, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

  • Active Registered Behavior Technician certification must be current or obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Certification in SAMA within 30 days of employment.
  • Certification in AHA BLS.
