Position Summary

The Senior Communications & Legislative Program Associate plays a crucial role in executing the legislative agenda and advocacy initiatives of the Better World Campaign. This position is essential for the daily management of the campaign's social media strategies and communications efforts. The Senior Associate will be tasked with creating, editing, and disseminating content across various digital platforms, while also managing the campaign's email outreach. Collaborating closely with the Director of Content and Engagement Strategy, this role will help develop innovative digital strategies aimed at enhancing grassroots engagement and capturing the attention of key policymakers on priority issues.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in formulating and implementing a comprehensive legislative strategy that aligns with the mission and programmatic objectives of the Better World Campaign.
  • Monitor and analyze relevant congressional hearings, legislation, and initiatives; provide background information and suggested inquiries for legislative staff regarding UN-related matters.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual Congressional Briefing Book.
  • Conduct research and draft informative materials such as fact sheets, policy briefs, and brochures that underscore the significance of UN initiatives and the U.S.-UN relationship.
  • Review organizational materials for accuracy and relevance.
  • Oversee the daily content management of the campaign's digital platforms by generating engaging social media content across channels, including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar for social media postings and website updates.
  • Manage the content of the Better World Campaign website, including writing, editing, and posting updates.
  • Support the setup, recording, and production of video interviews for the campaign.
  • Act as a liaison with the events team, coordinating logistics for campaign-related events.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports detailing all communications activities under the guidance of the Director of Content and Engagement Strategy.
  • Oversee the management of the campaign's Google Adwords account.
  • Develop strategies to enhance the campaign's email list and newsletter engagement, under the supervision of the Director of Content and Engagement Strategy.
  • Assist in drafting speeches, talking points, and blog posts for campaign events.
  • Support the Communications team in updating and refining the Better World Campaign website.
  • Participate in meetings with senior leadership and congressional offices.
  • Contribute to building and nurturing relationships that support the campaign's legislative agenda.
  • Provide administrative assistance to senior leadership during meetings with U.S. and UN officials.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in political science, international relations, or communications.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in legislative affairs, international relations, or a related field is essential.
  • Exceptional oral, research, and writing skills are necessary.
  • Experience on Capitol Hill or in government relations is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with administrative processes are critical.
  • A collaborative team player who is willing to assist as needed.
  • Experience with website design and proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel is advantageous.
  • Ability to adhere to attendance and punctuality policies.
  • Capability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
