Position Overview:

The Quality Control Manager is tasked with ensuring that the specifications for products are meticulously defined, documented, comprehended, and effectively communicated across the organization and its supply chain. Upholding product integrity is essential for fostering customer loyalty and maintaining high morale among employees. The responsibilities of the Quality Control Manager must be executed with integrity, professionalism, and respect for the insights of the entire workforce, integrating their knowledge into the company's practices.

Key Objectives:

  • Oversee the effective implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System in alignment with ISO 9001/2015 standards and ITAR regulations.
  • Achieve a measurable decrease in the current rate of non-conforming products.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive training program for departmental personnel.
  • Establish and maintain a formal Discrepant Material Report (DMR) system.
  • Implement a calibration program for measuring instruments and production control devices.
  • Review and enhance the Engineering Department's product filing system to create reliable electronic records.
  • Develop a departmental documentation system that ensures:
    • All existing company documents are captured.
    • New documents can be created efficiently.
    • Each document is assigned a unique identifier.
    • Proper revision control is maintained.
    • Users have easy access to documents.
    • Security measures are in place to protect Master Files from tampering.
  • Enhance the existing paint sample distribution system.
  • Increase knowledge of customer products and internal processes.
  • Promote the company's quality values throughout the organization.

Empowerment Level:

  • Authorized to halt shipments of any order due to quality issues.
  • Empowered to stop any operations that violate the Quality Management System.
  • Can authorize overtime within the Quality Department.
  • Permitted to make reasonable purchases for departmental supplies and equipment.

Accountability:

  • Accountable to:
  • The Customer, ensuring products meet or exceed quality standards and addressing any non-conformance issues.
  • The Company and its leadership by completing assigned tasks and objectives promptly.
  • The Management Team by communicating quality concerns effectively and guiding problem resolution to meet production targets.
  • The Staff by providing necessary tools and training for Quality Management System compliance.
  • Themselves by conducting business ethically and honorably with colleagues.

Role Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Manager is expected to exemplify the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. The role encompasses:

  • Leading personnel effectively.
  • Managing various events and situations.
  • Facilitating the introduction of new methods and practices.
  • Training staff on new skills and technologies.
  • Organizing systems and methodologies.
  • Coaching direct reports.
  • Demonstrating endurance and mental acuity.
  • Maintaining focus on the organization's primary goals.
  • Monitoring the performance of direct reports through assessments and reviews.
  • Occasionally advising leadership on company performance and product integrity.

Communication Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical documents and instructions.
  • Able to present effectively to groups of customers or employees.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Approaches interactions with tact and respect.
  • Actively listens and seeks clarification when necessary.
  • Maintains composure under pressure.

Other Required Skills:

  • High tolerance, patience, and understanding in all interactions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and manage competing demands.
  • Observes safety and security protocols consistently.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in Quality or Engineering within a manufacturing context, including ISO 9001 Quality Systems management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Quality and Engineering systems and practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  • Regularly required to use hands for handling and communication.
  • Frequent standing and walking are necessary.

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 annually
