Job Summary

The City of Burbank, CA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard and Aquatic Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation department, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our municipal swimming pool, as well as the development and implementation of aquatic programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of lifeguards and instructors to ensure the safe and enjoyable experience of pool patrons.
  • Develop and implement aquatic programs and services, including swimming lessons, water aerobics, and special events.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations, and maintain a safe and clean environment for pool users.
  • Collaborate with other department staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of pool operations.
  • Perform lifeguard duties, including rescuing swimmers in distress and providing first aid and CPR as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school and one season's experience as a lifeguard and instructor.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate, Water Safety Instructor's Certificate, and Lifeguard Certificate from authorized providers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
