Project Engineer III

Overview:
The Project Engineer III role is pivotal in steering New Product Development initiatives alongside the internal Integrated Product Development Team and external stakeholders. This position encompasses crafting technical proposals, providing design and fabrication assistance, conducting testing, sustaining engineering efforts, delivering project status updates, liaising with vendors, mentoring junior engineers, and overseeing project management tasks. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, alongside a robust background in ducting design, aircraft certification, program milestones, documentation creation, manufacturing methodologies, analytical tools, and CAD software. Exceptional communication, analytical, and mathematical abilities are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing Technical Proposals
  • Executing Preliminary to Detailed Design of customer Line Replacement Units (LRUs)
  • Providing Technical Support for Development Part Fabrication
  • Conducting Qualification / Certification testing through Entry-into-Service (EIS)
  • Engaging in Sustaining Engineering Activities
  • Presenting project status and processes to leadership and external stakeholders
  • Collaborating with vendors and suppliers to ensure compliance with product and project standards
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers
  • Identifying and recommending technical enhancements
  • Contributing to new business opportunities
  • Interacting with customers both internally and externally
  • Supporting the manufacturing team during the Product Development Phase
  • Adhering to all Senior policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; M.S. preferred
  • Experience in designing metallic or composite ducting
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification processes
  • Experience managing programs from award to key milestones such as PDR, CDR, PRR, SOF, EIS
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks and supervise non-direct reports
  • Experience in drafting certification documentation
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and/or composite manufacturing processes
  • Experience with the MRB process
  • Testing experience per RTCA-DO/160 or MIL-STD-810
  • Participation in internal and external audits
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry specifications
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers is preferred
  • Preferred familiarity with analytical tools and CAD software
